This one was written because it was raining, and I had the scene in my head. I don't know why, too much listening to thrice I think. So I sketched it out on my notebook and then it grew into this. It's not meant to be depressing, it should read more like a fable, there's a meaning to it. It's called I'm always thelast to know these things because it's in a way refering to when everyone else has known something for days, and you're the last to know. Everyone knew their relationship wouldn't work out, they were young, but she didn't think it would end like this, after what was spoken between the two.
I'm Always The Last To Know These Things
She's crying
he's trying
to make her see his point maybe understand
he's blind
she's deaf
they just can't comunicate with each other
what happened to them in three years
the good times just replaced by tears
he doesn't know where the love went
he just wants to fix this facade
she steps up
he backs down
she's doesn't know why hes so insensitive
to her needs
to their lives
when things get complicated he runs and hides
he'll never lay a hand on her
this kind of pressure he cant take
he's out the door and in the car
he needs some time to catch his breath
we are an impending car crash
two forces moving down the wrong path
no intention of compromise
we're too stubborne for our lives
(for our lives)
it's raining
he's straining
to see the road in the dark of this cold night
his mind cant
stop thinking
his vision blurred by thoughts of his baby girl
he's going to fast can't slow down
can't see the lights heading his way
he makes his last final mistake
deep down he honestly did try
we are an impending car crash
two forces moving down the wrong path
no intention of compromise
regretting all the words we spoke
(words we spoke)
she wakes up
checks her watch
fetches the daily paper from the front porch
turns the page
her heart drops
"driver hits oncoming truck, young male's heart stops"
you were more than the front page news
two forces once interwined
shouldnt of let the sun set on..
shouldn't of let the sun set on an argument
one night leads to her life long guilt
work things out before it's too late
tomorrow is another day
his legacy left in news print
car crashes make media splashes
car crashes make media splashes
his legacy left in news print
